My plan?

Stage one is just an idea and I needed somewhere accessible to store a plan. That’s all really, although I do hope to do more of Burma than that. Here’s the plan in thought n writing : HCMC to Hanoi , follow the coast with left turns here and there and circles to explore , from Hanoi, have a look at Ha Long bay and circle back into the mountains, cross into Laos near Dien Bien Phu and make work my way across Laos into Northern Thailand and then into Burma…………..

……and of course like any plan it can change.

  1. More Burma or you’re missing so much. (Have a look at crossing from Mae Sai into Shan State. That would also let you skip lots of dull bits of Thailand, crossing from northern Laos to northern TH.) Burma/Myanmar is going to change rapidly – take a good look now perhaps?

And the ‘middle way’ route in Laos is a good’un.

    1. The route was more for my mate from America who wants to do the first leg with me. And he has already pointed out that the North winds will be blowing around that time. So could be a case of Thailand first then Burma , then Laos! Who knows? Waiting for some kit to arrive and this unbearable heatwave to subside, then off I go. Will bend your ear more on Burma later, cheers my man.

      1. Would be good, but – and I’m talking several years ago since I casually looked – there was no feasible crossing in the offing…but, things change eh.

      2. The winds from the north at that time of year will be blowing in all those countries tho…(as they do in Cambo too).
Defo some routes in Burma where I was very glad to have a noticeable tailwind rather than a headwind (esp. with ragged road surfaces)
Temps can drop below freezing in December in higher areas – blankets in hotels, not AC/fan.
